Shambaugh
June 20, 1937 – February 28, 2022
Barbara Fulton Shambaugh of Jamaica Plain, formerly of Brookline, died February 28th after a decade's long battle with Alzheimer's and dementia. She is predeceased by her husband, Philip Wells Shambaugh, her parents, Jessie (Watt) Collins and Robert Fulton, and her sister, Judith Greaney. She is survived by her 5 loving nieces and nephews. Barbara was a nurse and a pioneer in the field of kidney transplantation and home dialysis. She traveled through Europe teaching other nurses best practices in the emerging field. She was a lifelong learner with degrees from Boston College , Boston University and UMass Amherst . Barbara received her Ph.D. in Education from UMass Amherst, and was an early adopter of online teaching/learning through the University of Phoenix. Barbara loved her Corgi dogs, British monarchy, classic movies and was a voracious reader. A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
