Armenia "Dolly" Bland, a vibrant resident of Cambridge, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, at the age of 93.

​Originally from Guatemala, Dolly moved to Cambridge in the 1960s, where she built a full and remarkable life. She was known for her quick wit, vibrant personality, and unwavering love for her family. A woman of many talents, she worked alongside her family at the Bland Funeral Home before serving as a Harvard Security Police Officer in the 1980s and 90s. In the 1960s, she was also a true trailblazer, becoming a champion bowler.

Dolly's life was a testament to her spirit. She was tough as nails, yet endlessly kind, with a beautiful and charming presence that lit up every room. She loved to laugh, tell jokes, and offer her perfect advice to anyone who needed a listening ear. A world traveler, she cherished spending time with family and friends and could often be found at "The Corner," her favorite hangout spot, enjoying good music. She also embraced her heritage, taking every opportunity to speak her native Spanish.

She is reunited in death with her beloved husband, Abel "Sonny" Bland, and her parents.

Dolly is survived by her loving brother, Reginald Mark DeCambre, and sister-in-law, Evelyn Solla-DeCambre. Her legacy continues through her niece Tatia DeCambre-Ellis and her husband Vjay Ellis, and their sons Jaii and Zayne; her nephew Reginald Arlen DeCambre and his wife Sara Palmer; and her nephew Tremaine Little and his wife Julun Sundara. She will also be deeply missed by her lifelong friend, Maureen "Mo" Morrison, who was by her side for decades, along with countless cousins, friends, and co-workers. Her love has left an indelible footprint on all of their hearts, and her memory will be cherished forever. We love her to the moon and back. The End.
