of Arlington, MA, passed away on January 5, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Nicholas H. Darris. Devoted mother of Christina "Tina" Farrell and her husband Daniel, Irene Kalogeris and her husband John, and Katherine "Kathy" Darris and her wife Lisa O'Connor. Loving grandmother of Nicholas and his fiancé Elizabeth, Leah, Alexandra, Sophia, Kathryn, Jillian, Jayden, and Daniel. Loving sister of Helen Sokaris, Mary Sokaris, and the late Christos, Theodore, and George Sokaris. Also survived by many relatives and dear friends. Aphrodite was a loyal and devoted Philoptochos and church member for over 50 years. Since she was a teenager, every Sunday her strong melodious voice would fill her church and guide her fellow choir members. She was St. Barbara's Philoptochos President twice, served as secretary or treasurer numerous times, volunteered a few years at the Hellenic Nursing Home in Canton, served on the Metropolis Philoptochos Board of Boston, and also served a term on the St. Athanasius Parish Council. For years too numerous to remember, she organized and led the cooking and baking sessions in preparation for festivals and cuisines, and then served the public at those events. She was the first to arrive for work and the last to go home after closing. She and her late husband Nicholas raised three wonderful daughters: Irene, Christina, and Katherine. Now Aphrodite passed on her delicious recipes to the loving grandchildren who idolized her. She led an exemplary life as a true role model of a "Christian Philoptochos woman", selfless and devoted to meeting the needs of others and the needy. It was with great pride that Aphrodite saw her daughter Irene Kalogeris, follow in her footsteps and become a Philoptochos president. The tea held in her honor on March 18, 2017, was a fitting tribute for a woman who has led a life of work and devotion to family, church, and fellow human beings.
