Antonio "Tony" Arpino , of Watertown, MA passed away peacefully at Mount Auburn Hospital on February 18th at the age of 89 . He was born in Sant'Elia Fiumerapido, Cassino , Italy. The oldest son of Orazio and Maria(Gargano) Arpino. As a young man, he immigrated alone to the United States. As a skilled cement mason he was able to aid the rest of his family to come to the United States . He was well known as an avid gardener who generously shared his harvest of fruits and vegetables with family and friends. His homemade ravioli and sauce for holiday dinners were his hallmark. He was married for 23 years to the late, Rose Simeone Arpino and was the father of six children: Lisa Salterio of Bradford, MA; Anthony of Watertown, MA; Mark and his wife Palmina of North Attleboro, MA; Rosanne Estep and her husband Bradley of Plaistow, NH; Sandra Donlan and her husband James of Newton, MA; and Paul and his wife Ellen of Watertown, MA. He is survived by his sisters Anna Pulsone and her husband Nicholas, of Newton, MA and Antoinette Vergona and her husband Joseph , of Watertown, MA. He was predeceased by three sibling; Francesca Polini, Palma Persechini, and Bernardo Arpino. He will also be missed by his grandchildren; Roselle Healy and her husband Mark, Adam Sanborn, Luke Arpino, Zachary Estep, Maddy Donlan, Katherine Estep, James Donlan, Jr., and Eric Donlan. Great grandfather of Dante Arpino and Amelia Healy. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Faggas Funeral Home, 533 Mt. Auburn St., Watertown, MA on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 9AM followed by a burial ceremony at Newton Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2108 at the funeral home from 4PM to 8PM. At Tony's request, please omit flowers.
