Antonia "Janet
" Littas
June 30, 1926 – March 13, 2023
Antonia "Janet" Littas passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 13. She was 96 years young. Janet lives on, in the hearts of her three children, eight grandchildren, sister, nieces, nephews, and countless friends of all ages.
Janet was a devoted mother and engaged grandmother whose greatest joy was to spend time with her family, particularly her grandchildren.
Janet was born in 1926 and was raised in her beloved city of Boston by her mother Anastasia Zacharias along with two loving sisters. She graduated from Lasell College and subsequently worked for The Department of Humanities at M.I.T.
In 1953, Janet married Commander Evangelos Littas of the Royal Hellenic Navy. They lived in Athens and Corfu, Greece where she gave birth to her first child before returning to raise her family in Cambridge.
A resident of Belmont for the last 50 years, Janet had a generous and spirited heart. She captivated people with her endearing personality, broad interests and her engaging storytelling. Best of all, she was an attentive listener and was genuinely interested in the live's of others.
A funeral service will be held at St Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 57 Brown St., Weston, MA on March 20th at 10am; with a private burial following. In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests that interested parties consider a donation to one of Janet's favorite charities- Covenant House, whose mission is dedicated to helping youth in crisis.
