Obituary

Angeline (Yakes) Gennis ,86, of Arlington, Mass, passed away peacefully in Littleton on March 6, 2010. Beloved wife of the late George H. Gennis. She was born in Somerville, Mass. to Anastasios and Anastasia (Sourgiotis) Yakes. She resided in Somerville with her family and graduated from Somerville High School. George and Angie resided in Arlington for most of their marriage,where they raised their five children. Angeline was one of the original members of St. Athanasius The Great Greek Orthodox Church of Arlington, Mass. She was a member of the Philoptochos and very devoted to her church.She was a long time volunteer at the Hellenic College in Brookline. She enjoyed painting and Greek dancing, but is best known for her fabulous Greek cooking.She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She spent her last year under the warm and professional care of the Lifecare Center of Nashoba Valley. She was the devoted mother of Harry Gennis and his wife Pauline , of Concord; Thomas Gennis and his wife Aida, of Wayland;Peter Gennis and Charles Gennis, both of Arlington;and Mary Anne Schubert and her husband David , of Concord.She was the cherished grandmother of George and Angelina Gennis ofConcord;Elisabeth,George,Andreas,and Evan Gennis ,of Wayland;and Tess and Kathryn Schubert ,of Concord. She was predeceased by her siblings, George Yakes and his wife Rose of Cambridge;Ethel Vozikis of Burlington; and Ellen Adams and her husband Adam of Somerville. She is survived by her sister-in-law Katherine Kondis of Braintree, widow of George Kondis;Spiro Vozikis of Burlington; and Marie Gennis ,widow of Zachary Gennis, formerly of Westwood. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews,relatives and friends. She will be missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. May her Memory be Eternal.
