Surrounded by his family, Andy (Anastasios) Papathanasiou of Belmont MA passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at the age of 53. Andy was born in Boston MA on April 14th, 1970, to Demetrios and Vasiliki Papathanasiou. Andy was a devoted and loving Husband, Father, Papou, and Friend. Known for his perseverance and generosity, Andy was adored by many. He loved spending time with his family, weekends on Cape Cod, fishing, and playing hockey with his kids. He also enjoyed trips to Greece to visit family and friends and tend to the family olive trees.

He is predeceased by his mother, Vasiliki.

Andy was the beloved husband of Ivonisia. Proud father of Nicholaos and Vasilios. Cherished Papou of Elliott. Loving brother of Christos and his wife Aphrodite, and Panagiotis. He is also survived by his father, Demetrios, his Godson Yanni and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and lifelong friends. He will be truly missed.

One of Andy's most treasured accomplishments in life was being a father. He supported his children throughout every phase of their life. From teaching them how to skate to proudly celebrating their graduations and countless other milestones, Andy's devotion to his children never wavered. Above all else, Andy taught his boys the importance of family and the impact of a positive outlook. He left his sons with a gift that they will cherish forever- the love of an amazing father. May his memory and life be eternal.

Funeral services on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 10:00 am in the Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church, 25 Bigelow Ave., Watertown, MA .  A brief visitation will be held in the church prior to the services from 9- 10 am. Burial in Ridgelawn Cemetery , Watertown, MA
