Andreas Dimacopoulos's Obituary

December 12, 1934 - February 27, 2026

Andreas Dimacopoulos, Age 91, born in Dara, Arcadia, Greece, fell asleep in the Lord on February 27, 2026 surrounded by his children. He was the beloved husband of the late Catherine (Kahiouteas), loving father of Helen Orphanos and her husband John, and Maria Alex and her husband Gary, and Ted Dimacopoulos and his wife Fanoula. He was son of the late Theodore and Eleni (Papantoniou). He was the youngest of three children and was predeceased by his brother Konstantinos Dimacopoulos and his wife Christina, and sister Dimitra Papadopoulos and her husband Dionysios.

He was the proud pappou of seven grandchildren: Fr. Alex Orphanos and his wife Presvytera Patricia (Gounardes), Andrianna Orphanos, Christos, Catherine, and Spiro Alex, and Andreas and Katerina Dimacopoulos. He also had two beloved great-grandchildren, John and Zoe Katerina Orphanos.

He is survived by his sister-in-law Fotini (Kahiouteas) and her husband Dimitrios Milonakos, and was predeceased by his late sister-in-law Christina Giannopoulos, and brother-in-law Stelios Kahiouteas. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends here and in Greece.

He immigrated to Canada in 1960 where he married the love of his life, Catherine. He worked hard in the restaurant industry until he came to the United States in 1967, where he worked at Jimmy’s Harborside in Boston. He then started his own business, owning and operating the Dairy Queen in Bellingham, Massachusetts, alongside his family.

He shared stories of his homeland with his family about the hardships they faced growing up during World War II and the Civil War in Greece, but focused also on the good times and the simple life they shared. Dara always held a special place in his heart and that love was shared with each member of the family. He was faithful and true to his faith, customs, and traditions and passed them onto his children and grandchildren. In his spare time he loved to garden and share his vegetables and fruit with family and friends. He was an amazing cook and master of kokkinisto. He loved to cook for everyone and enjoyed bringing people together for many family gatherings.

He will be greatly missed but also remembered by all who knew and loved him. May his memory be eternal.
