Andrea "Andi"
Werblin Reid
November 30, 1965 – August 5, 2022
Andrea "Andi" Werblin Reid of Framingham died Friday after a long illness at age 56, comforted by the steadfast love and care of her adoring husband, Angus Reid, as well as her dear sister Lisa Werblin of Framingham. Born on November 30, 1965 in Worcester, MA, Andi is the beloved daughter of Barbara (Labins) of Worcester and the late Marshall Werblin. She attended Doherty Memorial High School in Worcester and graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Andi was an accomplished creative professional, an exquisite amateur baker, an animal lover, a devotee of gerber daisies and her signature color, orange, as well as an acclaimed poet. She earned her MFA in creative writing from the University of Arizona and published two collections of poems, Lullaby for One Fist (2001) and Sundays with the Sound Turned Off (2014). Earlier this year, her poem "Language is the Virus" was named a finalist for the prestigious Perkoff Prize from the Missouri Review. Readers may have also encountered her idiosyncratic voice in the catalogs of the many brands who benefitted from her talent, including Talbots, Dress Barn, and TJX.
Before putting down roots in Greater Boston, Andi lived in Tucson, Arizona, Sandpoint, Idaho, and Barcelona, Spain. It was at the wedding of two friends from Barcelona that Andi met a kind, funny Scotsman who would, after a multiyear transatlantic courtship, become her husband. Andi's brilliance, style, and humor blessed the lives of friends and loved ones across the globe.
Andi's family are particularly grateful to Dr Megan Shea, Kimberly Maurer, and Teri Forbush for their care over the last three years, and to Andi's dear friend Christine McCarthy, who helped her navigate her final days with dignity and peace.
A memorial service will be held at Andi's home at 36 Meadow Street, Framingham, at 2pm on Friday 12th August. Please use the link below for to join the service live
