Afsar Darvish-Kojori Dadgar's Obituary

Afsar Darvish-Kojori Dadgar of Brookline, MA, fondly known to her grandchildren as Mimi, Maman-beh and Afsar-joon, passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on November 26th at the age of 93. Born in Iran in the 1920s, Afsar became a citizen in 1989 and moved to America in 2016 to be closer to family.

She was a beloved mother to Anowsh Dadgar of Lexington and his wife Helen, Ardeshir Dadgar of Brookline and his wife Mahasti, and Arezou Dadgar-Lemos of Newton and her husband Ed. She was a loving grandmother to John Dadgar, David Dadgar, Layla Kenney, Mena Lemos and Nilufar Dadgar. She is preceded in her death by her husband of 50+ years Ali Akbar Dadgar.

Afsar was an excellent cook known for her Persian khoresh dishes and was an enthusiastic card player. She was a knitting hobbyist and was also known for her radiant smile.


A funeral service will be held in her honor on Thursday, December 1st at Faggas Funeral home in Watertown from 9:30-11am, followed by a burial at Walnut Hills Cemetery , Brookline, MA . The reception luncheon will be held at The Iranian Association of Boston starting at 1pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
